There was a lot of talk about success at People for Education’s 15th annual conference on November 5th and 6th. And there was a lot of talk about Finland. An amazingly un-jetlagged Pasi Sahlberg (he had flown from Helsinki to Edmonton to Toronto and was on his way back to Finland – all in the space of four days!) painted a picture for us of a country where kids don’t start school until they’re seven years old and success in education is all about equity.
